One of the many highlights of our honeymoon in the Bay Area was our tour of Yosemite National Park, California. Though we have both been to the Rockies many times, we never tire of seeing mountains, especially not mountains we’ve never seen before.

This tour was especially interesting for me as a fine art photographer, given how inspiring it was to one of – if not THE – greatest landscape and fine art photographers that ever lived, Ansel Adams.

Given that this particular shot was taken from a popular tourist viewpoint, I suspect there are hundreds if not thousands of nearly identical photos out there of this view. But for me it still stands as one of my most unique, best, and favourite photos from one of the most beautiful places I have ever been; it is a photo and a place and a time which carries a lot of meaning and memories for me and my wife.

El Capitan on the left, Cathedral Rocks and Bridalveil Falls on the right, and Half Dome off in the distance.
